There are many awesome beaches for surfing on Maui. Two of the most famous beaches for advanced surfers are Hookipa Beach (in Honolua Bay near Paia) and Peahi Beach often referred to as "Jaws". Winter typically brings in the biggest waves but Maui is a great place to catch a wave all year long.
If you are a beginner or first-time surfer, Maui has less intimidating surf beaches than some of the other Hawaiian islands. Most of the beginners beaches are located in South or West Maui.
